Children
of Diabetic parents may be more like to get the Disease
Recent research at Yale University (March 2008) showed that children
of diabetic parents had higher chances of getting diabetes at an earlier
age than their parents and the children in general population.
Good news, not all children
of diabetic parents can get the disease, a few factors increase the
chances of children getting diabetes:
- Obese children
- Obesity related to high body fats around the child’s waist.
- Bad diet habits
- Low physical activities
Watch out for the following signs and
symptoms (in children):
- excessive thirst
- frequent urination
- weight loss
- fatigue
- blurred vision
- abdominal pain
Are
any particular tests required for children to detect early diabetes?
Regular blood glucose tests (once a year) is highly advised. Certain
immunology tests can be done to get idea of children’s specific odds
of developing diabetes. Talk to your doctor for details.
Parents must keep a watch on what children eat,
their loyalty to nutrition is very essential, and
encourage physical activities, sports
and outdoor activities have proved better than acrobatics
and exercises on fitness machines in gyms and health clubs.
Is this a healthy meal for you/ your
child?
